Privacy Policy
Angledle is a small daily puzzle that runs in your browser. We collect as little as we can — no account, no sign-up, no personal profile. The only game data that leaves your device is an anonymous record of each game you play, used for the “how everyone played” statistics. The site is paid for by ads (see Advertising). This page explains exactly what happens to your data.
Your game data
Your puzzle progress, statistics, streaks, and settings are stored locally on your device using your browser’s storage. Clearing your browser storage erases it permanently.
Anonymous game results
When you finish one of the three daily games, your browser sends an anonymous record of that game to our server once, so we can show everyone how the crowd played that day:
- Guess the Angle — each guess, the time between guesses, and how it was entered (the ± buttons or the keyboard, including the sequence of button presses).
- Draw It — the angles you drew.
- Higher or Lower — the card you picked for each question.
- Draw It and Higher or Lower — how long the game took, the time of each move, and whether it was made with a pointer (mouse or touch) or the keyboard.
- Every record — the daily puzzle number, the device type (touch or pointer), your local time and UTC offset, and a random id that only identifies that one record.
No IP address, account, cookie or other identifier is stored with it, and records are only ever shown as aggregated percentages. Your browser keeps a small “already sent” marker in its storage so the same game is never sent twice. The records are used only for these crowd statistics.
Analytics
To get a rough sense of how many people visit and which puzzles they enjoy, we use one analytics tool:
Fathom Analytics — a privacy-first, cookieless analytics service. It counts anonymous, aggregated page views without setting cookies, without storing personal data, and without building a profile of you or following you across other sites. Because it stores nothing on your device, it runs by default.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
Angledle is free and paid for by ads from Google AdSense, a third-party vendor: at most one per page, none on About, this Privacy page and the “page not found” page.
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google shows you a consent message (a certified consent tool under the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework). What you choose there decides whether ads may be personalized.
- Without consent to personalization, ads may still be shown, but not personalized. Depending on your choices, Google may still use cookies or local storage to limit repeats, measure ads and prevent fraud.
- In some US states, Google shows a Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link on pages with ads, where you can opt out.
- Elsewhere, ads may be personalized; you can opt out below.
Cookies and other ad networks. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Ads based on your visits to other sites are shown only where ads are personalized: outside the EEA, the UK and Switzerland unless you opted out, or inside them with your consent. Besides Google, other certified ad networks may serve ads here and use cookies; Google lists them, with links to each one’s website and privacy policy, in its list of ad technology partners. You can opt out of personalized advertising:
- from Google: Ads Settings;
- from many other vendors: aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu;
- from a single ad network: on its own website, where it offers this.
To change your choice in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, open Privacy and cookie settings — the same control sits at the bottom of pages with ads, and Google shows its own link there too. How Google uses this data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Fathom also counts, anonymously, page views where an ad failed to load.
Angledle is not directed at children under 13 (16 in some EEA countries).
Cookies & consent
Angledle itself uses only the local storage needed to run the game, remember your preferences and mark which results were already sent, and whether Google’s consent message applies to you, to show that control. Consent for advertising is handled by Google’s consent message (see Advertising). Fathom stores nothing on your device.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell your data ourselves. Where Google’s ads count as “selling” or “sharing” personal information under US state law, you can opt out with the link described in Advertising.
